Opportunities at apas

  

apas  is an independent, not for profit provider of services to the community. Our services are based in Nottingham city but we provide support throughout Nottinghamshire and the neighbouring counties. We also receive and respond to enquiries Nationwide and Internationally via our telephone and internet services.

For problem drinkers apas offers an efficient fast-track referral into suitable services we also offer a range of in house services to the  public. We produce a range of information, leaflets and fact sheets on a variety of areas relating to alcohol use and misuse, many of which are available from this site. We can also provide more information about the support services in your area as well as other useful advice and information relating to services for carers, family members and young people.

Public Services

apas Direct - no waiting, person to person advice and information service. Monday to Thursday 12.30pm - 6.30pm, Fridays 12.30pm to 4.30pm and Saturdays 9.00am to 12.30pm.

Assessment  Service - standardised assessment of the nature and extent of the problem including psychometric evaluation.  Shared-care approach for professional referrals.

Alcoline - telephone us on 0845 762 6316  (Lo-call) then press 1 or (0115) 941 4747 and press 1. Available from 9.00am until 7.00pm, Monday through to Friday and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm (answerphone at all other times).

Email Service - advice and information by email.  info@apas.org.uk

Information, Advice and Counselling - for families and individuals with substance misuse problems. Services for women, delivered by women are available and services in other languages can be arranged.

Significant Others Service - specialist help and support for the friends and families of problem drinkers.  

Gambling Support Service - in partnership with Gamcare apas can offer confidential advice, information and support to individuals worried about their own or someone else's gambling behaviour (see our Gambling section for more information)

Domestic Violence Service - along with the Nottinghamshire Domestic Violence Forum, the Police and other organisations, apas works to address the role of alcohol and drug misuse in situations where domestic violence occurs.

Priory Programme - in partnership with The Priory Clinic, Nottingham, an intensive intervention is available on either an inpatient or day care basis for individuals dependent on alcohol and/or drugs.

Report Service - apas provides  written reports for Individuals, Courts (see Service in Focus), Tribunals, Social Services and Employers.

Tenancy Support - a specialised service aiming to support drinkers and drug users in their tenancies under the Supporting People scheme. (See Supporting People)

Employment Support  - support to employers and employees where alcohol is a factor in the work environment & supporting people back into employment.

GP Practice Support - apas offers assessment, advice, information and counselling services in health centres and surgeries.

Referral on - apas refers to selected residential primary treatment units and extended care facilities locally and further a field. Assistance with necessary procedures is available as required.  

Liver Function Test - can be arranged through the NHS or privately.

Detoxification - can be arranged through the NHS or privately.

Unpaid Work - opportunities for personal development through supervised unpaid activity here at apas. (See  Volunteers)

Bookshop - a range of books are available dealing with alcohol, drugs, treatment, rehabilitation, counselling and community care. We also have a library where service users can buy a range of second hand books, CD's and Video's for 50p-£1  

Home & Environment - apas promotes recycling and energy saving schemes both in the home, at work and the community.

Just phone, fax, e-mail or call in,  services are available to all. In certain circumstances, fees and/or expenses may be due in order to access some services.  In all cases, we will assist you in ensuring that no-one is denied access to the intervention which will best meet their needs because of an inability to pay.
