Face to face support
Drop in and have an informal chat with one of our advice workers using our apas direct service, no waiting, person to person advice and information service which is available Monday to Thursday 12.30pm - 6.30pm, Fridays 12.30pm to 4.30pm and Saturdays 9.00am to 12.30pm.
There is no need to make an appointment using the drop in service; as well as self referrals we also receive referrals from a range of organisations, including GPs, drug and alcohol agencies, Probation, employers amongst others.
Information, advice and counselling for families and individuals with substance misuse problems. Services for women, delivered by women are available and services in other languages can be arranged.
Referral on - apas refers to selected residential primary treatment units and extended care facilities locally and further a field. Assistance with necessary procedures is available as required.
Assessment Service
Standardised assessment of the nature and extent of the problem including psychometric evaluation. Shared-care approach for professional referrals.
Significant Others Service
Specialist help and support for the friends and families of problem drinkers.
Gambling Support Service
In partnership with Gamcare apas can offer confidential advice, information and support to individuals worried about their own or someone else's gambling behaviour (see our Gambling section for more information).
GP Practice Support
apas offers assessment, advice, information and counselling services in health centres and surgeries.
